49.Instructions on Post-marking the 2-line Punjabi-Hindi Output (NEXT-CHAPTER PREV-CHAPTER CONTENTS)

This file contains instructions on how to mark a Punjabi-Hindi
anusaaraka output story, whenever you have difficulty in
understanding the output. The changes so marked will be given
to the Punjabi expert, by a program automatically. So you have
to follow some format (given below).

It is expected that you will read the first line, that is
the original Punjabi line, and will look up the second
line (that is, Hindi output) only when you have difficulty.



    FORMAT FOR MARKING THE OUTPUT

1. Mark words on the 2-line output files by putting ** in front
of them.  Those words have to be marked in _Punjabi_ (1st line of
the 2 line output) with which a Hindi reader is likely to have
difficulty, and whose equivalent is _not_ provided in the Hindi
output (2nd line of the 2 line output).

For example:

2. You can also type the correct Hindi meaning if you wish, next to the 
Punjabi word by typing '=>' followed by the correct meaning. For example,

3. A meaning once given for a word, need not be repeated for subsequent
occurrences of the word.

4. Other comments can be put anywhere in the output after
beginning it with '#'.

4.1 Usually, it is better to write general comments in a new line after
2nd line (i.e. as the 3rd line). For example:

4.2 Comments specific to a word can be marked right after the word also.
These comments are given to the Punjabi person automatically.
For example, in the following the Punjabi person is asked to look
in the text where the meaning of ÌÑ³Ú is given as ©¢½_ÈÚѳ:

WHERE TO FIND THE STORIES:

Stories are on machine anu3 in the area: ~sangal/pnjrun/Story.
To see the recently run stories give the command
  cd ~sangal/pnjrun/Story
  ls -lt *.out *.mod | more
The more recently run stories will be displayed first.

If a story, say 34f.out, contains the output, 34f.mod contains
post-marked file. Avoid marking a story which has 
already been marked once. Select a story whose *.mod file
is not there, say 35f.out, and make a copy in your own directory
as follows:
  cd ~sangal/pnjrun/Story
  cp 35f.out ~/35f.mod
calling it, say 35f.mod. Now start reading it using 'vim'
  cd ~
  vim 35f.mod
and mark the changes in the format below.
