Reaching IIIT Reaching IIIT from the Airport: There are prepaid TAXI services from the airport including one run by the Hyderabad Traffic Police. The fare to Gachibowli is about Rs. 250. Reserve *before* you leave the arrival lounge. You can also call the above taxi services (details on next page) to reach I.I.I.T. The cost will be about Rs. 225. Reaching IIIT from the Railway Station: Reaching Hyderabad by a train and getting down at the Hyderabad (Nampally) station would be the easiest way to reach us. The institute is 16km from Nampally railway station. From the railway station you could take an auto to our institute or get on to an APSRTC bus (Nos:216,217) to get down at the International Institute of Information Technology. The auto would cost you around Rs.80/- and a bus would take you around Rs.7/-. Another alternative would be getting off the train at Secunderabad station which is 18km from IIIT. From there you can take a auto to the campus(costs you around Rs.100) or take a APSRTC bus to Mehdipatnam (Nos:5,49M), you can take a 7-seater autos(Rs.7/-) or another bus(Nos:216,217) and get down at the International Institute of Information Technology. Reaching the institute by a RTC bus would cost you Rs.12/-. Some of the trains especially that come from Bombay stop at Begumpet which is mid way between Hyderabad (Nampally) and Secunderabad. If you plan to reach IIIT by bus from there, you need to take bus no: 49M from there, reach Mehdipatnam and then take another bus (Nos: 216,217) and get down at IIIT. An auto from Begumpet to IIIT direct might cost you around Rs. 120/- (approximately). If you prefer a bus to reach Hyderabad, getting down at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, you can reach our campus by RTC bus numbered 216 or 217. Note: Bus numbers 216K and 216L do not go via the institute campus. N.B. Sometimes autos at the Railway stations may refuse to come to Gachibowli particularly if you arrive late in the evening. You can then take an auto to Mehdipatnam and take another to Gachibowli. Local Travel Car Rental Services Typically you can rent a car for 4hrs/40 KM (~Rs. 350--400) or 8hrs/80 KM (~Rs. 550--600) with additional charges for extra hours and distances. Rates can vary with the type of car. Cheapest rates are for Ambassadors and Indicas. Ask if the price includes the driver's tip. Slightly larger shared-ride "7-seaters" will charge by distances, usually less than Re. 1 per KM. They travel on fixed routes. The smaller "3-seaters" are metered and charge @ Rs. 5 per KM (minimum Rs. 10). Accommodation: The Summer School is held in IIIT where some of the participants will stay in IIIT guest rooms and student hostels. How to check in at IIIT? As soon as you enter the main gate, ask the security person for directions to the IIIT main building security desk. Report at the security desk. If you have already booked a room in IIIT, your details would be already with the security person. As all ATMs except for those on the 'Cirrus' network are far from campus, kindly plan accordingly. Phone facilities: The campus has 2 public STD booths, one in New Boys hostel and another in the Old boys hostel. For calls within campus you can avail the intercom system.
