The 10th International Conference on Natural Language Processing(ICON-2013)
will be held at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Noida, India
during 18-20 December, 2013. The ICON conference series is a forum for
promoting interaction among researchers in the field of Natural Language
Processing in India and abroad. The main conference is on December 19-20
December 2013. This will be preceded by one day of pre-conference tutorials
and workshops on December 18, 2013.
Papers are invited on substantial, original and unpublished research on all
aspects of Natural Language Processing, with a particular focus on languages,
issues, and applications relevant to India. The areas of interest include, but
are not limited to:

Authors have to submit the papers under any one of the following categories:
Proposals are invited for tutorials/workshops. Tutorials/Workshops can be of half-day or full-day duration. The proposals should be presented in the form of a 200-word abstract, one page topical outline of the content, description of the proposers and their qualifications relating to the tutorial content.

The ICON 2013 tools contest is on Named Entity Recognition in Indian languages (IL). The NER involves the identification of proper names from the texts and classification of them into some
predefined categories of interest such as Person, Location, Organization, Miscellaneous (date, time, percentages, monetary expressions etc.). This is an important component for many NLP applications such as Machine Translation, Question-Answering, Automatic Summarization, Information Extraction etc.
