Any Machine Translation system requires a good phrasal dictionary.
We have a mechanically extracted english phrases (from MOBY project). The total
number of these "phrases" are about 130,000.
However, many of these are meaningless.
So the first task is to clean this list. This
work can be done by a group of people who have good command over English.
Once this has been done; then the people who know both English and Hindi
well can provide the Hindi equivalents of the cleaned phrases wherever they
can confidently do.
Then the remaining part of the cleaned list can be passed
to the linguists or professional lexico-graphers.
Electronic medium takes
care of the co-ordination and quality problems to a large extent.
