ÊèÏæÁèÍ ¦¢µèÑÜÖÝ - ÂàÑÝµÝ ÆÛ¶¢½ÝÔÝ English-Telugu Dictionary (Reprint of 1853 Edition) by CHARLES PHILIP BROWN This is an electronic version of English-Telugu Dictionary (1853 edition) of Charles Philip Brown, originally produced as part of the IPDA (Integrated Project for the Development of Anusaraka) project and the TRCT (Technology Resource Centre for Telugu) project, at CALTS, Univerisity of Hyderabad. Both IPDA and TRCT are funded by Ministry of Informantion Technology (earlier Department of Electronics), Government ofIndia. The electronic version of the English-Telugu dictionary (Brown,1853) is almost a copy except it does not include the following: Preface to an English-Telugu Dictionary viii-x Explanation of some references xi Translation of the Bible xii A KEY tothe Correct Pronunciation of English xiii-xxxii The ELEMENTS OF READING xxxiii-lx OF the Parts of Speech lxi-lxvii The current electronic version also introduces the following changes for certain typographical reasons: Phonetic transcription of English entries is dropped. Other language transcriptions such Tamil, Arabic, and Greek are not retained as such, but they occur either as transliterated in Telugu or Roman. Telugu numbers are now replaced by Arabic equivalents. Certain special symbols which are supported by DTP but not by a text editor are replaced by nearest equivalents (ex. plus sign for cross). This is only a preliminary version. An updated one with complete details is planned for a later date. Suggestions for improving the electronic version may be communicated to G. Uma Maheshwar Rao, CALTS, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad-500 046; Ph. 3010161 (o); [email: guraosh@uohyd.ernet.in] ---------------------------------------------------------------------
